Central Venue League
Sunday 18th May 2008-05-19
The team for this competition were:-
George, Liam, Matt, Ross, Nathaniel and three new faces Zak, Adam and Charlie.
Wizards – 10 Hornets – 6
George took the tip and won it and the first game was underway The Wizards came out strong on offence moving the ball and finding space. Some good work by Ross and Liam moving the ball around Adam and Charlie created the space for George to score 2 baskets, Nathaniel 2 and Zak 2. The Hornets tried to respond but the Wizards defence got the better of them and they could only muster 3 baskets. The Hornets were out classed by the Wizards and were surprised at the pressure that was shown on offence and defence. Game 1 win.
Wizards – 14 Hawks – 4
Again the tip was taken by George and the Wizards were in control from the start. Once again the pressure from the Wizards was too great for the Hawks which allowed 5 players to get onto the score sheet, 2 each for Zak and Ross and 1 for Adam, George and Nathaniel. This is the biggest winning margin the Wizards have had. Game 2 win.
Wizards – 10 Arrows – 6
Watching the Arrows in the previous games showed us that they were a very physical team but that didn’t deter the Wizards as once again the pressure they put on the Arrows from the start on both offence and defence was phenomenal. Once again some very good defensive work from all and some good offence gave room for Charlie to score 2 baskets, Nathaniel 2 and Adam 1. Game 3 win.
Wizards – 8 Hatters – 14
Facing the Hatters was always going to be a tough game as they are far more experienced than the Wizards with some very good players. The Hatters came out very strong and scored very early on. The Wizards tried to keep on the pressure on defence and did a good job but the Hatters were too strong. With the Wizards down by 14 they stepped up a gear and Zak and George scored 2 baskets each starting the Wizards comeback, unfortunately time beat us and this was the first defeat. The wizards showed the Hatters that the team is going to be a real threat in the future. Game 4 loss
Congratulations from all the coaches and everyone involved at the Wizards well done to all the players you came and showed everyone that from now on that the Wizards are a team to rival any that take part. Everyone gave 100% effort on both offence and defence and with the biggest winning streak of 3 games in a row you can all be very proud of yourselves.
Well done Wizards.
