CVL Competition 27/01/2008.
The team for this competition were:-
Bradley, Nathaniel, Grace, Bridie, Conner & George
Wizards 10 Hornets 14
The Wizards were facing a much larger team in the Hornets, but that didn’t reflect in the performance as everyone gave 100% effort. Some very good defending by Grace and Bridie as well as some excellent blocked shots from George gave the Hornets a tough time. We had one basket each from George, Bridie and Conner and two from Nathaniel giving us ten points but the Hornets sneaked in front to make a very respectful score of 14 to 10.
Wizards 6 Hawks 6
Again the defence was key in this game with Grace and George rising to the challenge once again. Bradley and Nathaniel kept the ball moving on offence. Two baskets from Nathaniel and one from George gave us the draw.
Wizards 0 Hatters 12
Once again we faced the more experienced Hatters but that didn’t deter the Wizards as they came out strong. The Hatters were moving the ball around a lot more than us with some very good passing between players. Unfortunately the Wizards were held to no point and the Hatters scored 12 There’s always next time Hatters.
Wizards 2 Harriers 12
Another defeat for the Wizards but signs of playing better basketball were there. The defending was again very good from all.
Wizards 14 Raiders 14
This was by far the best game that we played as we started really working as a team, the ball was being passed around more we were finding space and kept the ball moving. Again on defence Grace put up a sterling effort going up against bigger players but she stood her ground and it paid off and George kept coming up with the big blocks to keep the scores level. On offence Nathaniel scored 1 basket George scored 4 baskets with 2 assists to Grace for her to score 2 baskets of her own.
Well done to all the players, it shows that the effort at training is paying off and the Wizards will be team to reckon with in the future.
